How to do it

Setup

  • Take a wide stance that lets the knees track over the toes without hip pinching. Keep the shins close to vertical, grip inside the legs, brace hard, and pull the slack from the bar.

Execution

  • Push the floor apart and stand while keeping the bar close. Hips and shoulders rise together. Finish tall without leaning back, then return the bar under control.

Common Errors

  • Stance wider than the hips tolerate; knees collapse inward; hips shoot up before the bar moves; bar drifts forward; jerking the slack from the bar; leaning back at lockout

Cues That Work

  • Spread the floor; show your chest to the wall; keep the bar on the body; stand tall, not back

The Evidence

Builds whole-body pulling strength with substantial glute, adductor, quadriceps, and back demand. It is not inherently easier or safer than conventional deadlifting; the better choice is the version the lifter can execute and progress consistently.

What about supplements?

Train hard and hit your protein first — that's most of it. If the fundamentals are handled, two are worth it for building muscle:

Creatine

Monohydrate, 5 g/day. The most studied muscle supplement.

Clean Whey protein
