No-Fly Zone
Avoid stepping so far out that the heels lift or the top position disappears.
Programming
Late
The low-skill bodyweight setup fits at the end of lower-body training and does not require equipment turnover.
Model — Double
Fallback model — Density
Reach the top of the rep range with heels planted, then move the feet slightly farther from the wall and rebuild reps.
Legs
If it hurts
Pain is information, not a challenge to push through. Stop the set if pain is sharp, worsening, or changes how you move. These are exercise-selection options, not medical diagnosis or rehabilitation advice.
Work down this list in order. Stop at the first change that removes the pain.
Step 1
Step closer to the wall or work one leg at a time with a shorter lever.
Step 2
Add a one-second top hold and a three-second lower.
Step 3
Seated cable dorsiflexion or seated band dorsiflexion.
Substitutions
Seated cable dorsiflexion or seated band dorsiflexion.
The Evidence
This is a low-equipment dorsiflexion exercise. It does not guarantee protection from shin pain or replace evaluation of persistent symptoms.
